Brent has extensive experience in corporate and commercial law and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics), Master of Laws with Honours (University of Auckland).

Brent was originally as a Barrister and Solicitor in the High Court of New Zealand in 1992 and in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2000. Brent has an extensive corporate and commercial law background gained over 15 years of practice in New Zealand and New South Wales.

Expertise

• Advising on the full ambit of commercial transactions (from the small to the large and complex);
• Acting for purchasers and vendors in the acquisition and divestment of businesses, shares and other assets;
• Establishing joint ventures, trusts, partnerships and other legal arrangements;
• Drafting contracts, deeds and other instruments arising in commerce, including shareholders agreements, supply contracts and service;
• Advising and acting in respect of intellectual property matters, including implementing licensing, technology and distribution agreements;
• Advising on agreements and tenders involving the Commonwealth, particularly health funding agreements;
• Acting for both lessors and lessees in respect of lease transactions; and
• Advising on the broad range of commercial and corporate issues arising under the law, particularly in respect of the Corporations Act 2001 (cth) and the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth).
